P Hill Info

Guards,

Well boys the season is upon us. Nothing could be finer that having 2 skirmishes in three  weeks. So far the weather looks good for the 110th skirmish, maybe a bit cool and windy but that will not pose any problems for us…there will be water filled cans at 50 yards, and the big Styrofoam cups at 100 so that should be a nice change of pace targeting wise !!

Personal wise we are going to have some challenges this year….Dan Kennedy is relocating to Virginia, and while he is staying a member we will not be seeing much of him out in the region. Doug Johnson is going through some work schedule challenges so he will be on a shoot to shoot basis. Scott Yarling is pretty much in the same boat as Doug.  So Ernie and I will need good communication on what you plan to attend and what matches you will be shooting. You can call, write email, use Facebook, even communicate with the Commanders [B]Log if you so desire..just let us know !!

Our newest member, Dave Collins has been out with shooting with us several times. We finally convinced him to park his “Antonov Axle”* and he purchased a Zouave rifle from Doug. Dave has shot it quite well and overall I think he will be a good addition to our unit.

* is a M1842 .69 caliber rifled musket with a Whitacre barrel. Nice piece. For a wall…or a lamp….
Please take a look at the participation roster that is also in the members only section of our website, [look in the Rosters Folder] if you are not going to be participating in any of the event that we have you listed on please let Ernie or I know ASAP.

Will the person who has our new trigger weights please bring them to the skirmish? We need to make sure all of our firearms pass the trigger pull / half cock inspection before we shoot the match and before we head to Virginia.
It looks like we will have to farm out one shooter on Sunday, and I am working on that now, we appear to be ok for smoothie and carbine.
Remember to have your new membership card with you and visible when you are on the line.
Also if you would like to have a campfire, it might be wise to bring your own wood. Don’t know how much if any wood [other than our own Dick] will be available at the VFW campgrounds.
We will have a quick team meeting Sunday morning immediately following the musket match on Sunday. I want to confirm our count for the Nationals, and discuss several other items of minor importance.
